Open Research and Development from Navigation or the Command Center. Choose an available technology and inspect its prerequisites and research-point cost before submitting a research action.
Research may unlock additional structures, ships, weapons or powers. Some options also depend on your class or other advancements. An entry in the technology reference does not guarantee it is currently researchable by your character.
